Are Bengal Cats Aggressive?
I want a purebred cat and I have seen in Cat Fancy Bengals and think they are beautiful. I’ve heard mixed things about the breed. some say they are good with children and docile. some say they are not and that like most wild and domestic cats can be aggressive. I have children and other cats of this breed is for me? answer if you own one or really know about the breed. I mean it to have one and I would like an honest answer. thanks in advance
Hello … As with any cat that is difficult to say how their personality will turn out, once the cat matures. There are some important things to note about their temperament and personality. They prefer the company of other cats and most get along with cats if / when the introduction is done correctly as this applies to ANY cats who meet for the first time. However, there are some who are exceptions to this rule. Bengals are a very hyperactive breed of cat and very vocal cat and much stronger than Siamese Cats. They are very demanding for attention and are interested in everything their owners are doing. They certainly enjoy affection however only on their own terms, and rarely like being held or are lap cats. However, some are an exception to this rule. Ideally, it may not be a good fit for young children, because children want to hug and the Bengals are far from being a cat who like be restricted. If left alone for long periods of time it is best to have the company of another cat or dog, which is preferable or they can be quite malicious and as destructive as a result of loneliness and / or boredom. Please consider the language of Bengal Breeders before purchasing one because these cats are very demanding in general. Part important information about the Bengals. They should never be declawed as it leads to overcompensation with vicious biting since they have larger canine teeth than a typical domestic cat as well as inappropriately soiling (urinating / defecating) around the house. One thing we’ve seen all too often in the rescues we take part in. Bengals should never be allowed to roam freely outdoors as they are likely to be stolen and later sold sometimes for profit. However, it will lead a training belt easily and is the safest way to get some outdoor enjoyment. In some regions it is illegal to have the Bengal Cat as a pet, so be sure consult your local humane society in your region to learn if they are legal. Georgia, Hawaii and some other states have banned the ownership of The Bengal cat. Many Bengals require a healthy diet of near raw as many suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – loose stools syndrome. Royal Canin 27 is generally what Bengal farmers use to feed their cats since it is highly endorsed with the cat INTL Association (TICA). There are premium brands such as Innova EVO or Nature prairie Variety (see the other diets listed below) that help ease the problem with IBS. Any pet foods containing the ingredient maize corn meal (eg Iams, Science Diet, Purina, Whiskas, etc) causes severe bowel distress so it is best to choose cat food products to stay away of these ingredients. To learn more about the Bengals consider joining Bengal Chat forum: http://www.chat24.oli.us/hdw/ or http://www.bengalcatforums.com/forums/. As it always leaves a lifeguard for new families of Bengals. Who knows if if there is a time when in the future they are not able to maintain its flare maybe allergies, medical conditions in family moving overseas, etc all responsible Bengal breeders take their cats back (no questions asked), as is its ethical commitment to TICA in the sale of the kittens. There are also rescue of Bengal located throughout the world and we are ready to help with rehoming if necessary. We try to keep Bengals as they end up in shelters and they quickly believe that euthanasia is a wild cat and not safe as a pet, when in fact they are domesticated, as they are four or more generations removed from their wild relatives Asian Leopard Cat (ALC). Bengals Diets: Your diet should consist of high protein food rather than for normal commercial cats that contains corn, corn flour and stuffed with conservation … for example, that would be: IAMS, Science Diet, Purina, Whiskas and many others … essentially, anything from grocery and pet stores. The reason being is that Bengals commonly suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome permanent so if you live in a large metropolitan city look for a pet store specializing in leading to any of the following products to help minimize their distress intestinal Innova EVO and / or California Natural: nature http://www.naturapet.com/ Variety Praire: http://www.naturesvariety.com/ Welfare: Life is Wealth http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/: http://www.healthypetnet.com/ More details on Bengal Cats Bengal other owner of useful “vlakieste” here at Yahoo!
