Indochinese Tiger

Panthera Tigris Corbetti, the Indochinese Tiger is slightly darker than the color of the average Bengal Tiger, with an ocher narrow stripes that often break into a row of spots, and are less prominent in the front legs. Underparts and inside of the legs, chin and cheeks are white. Whiskers, treasured by Chinese pharmacies, are more prominent in males.

A resident of dense forests and mountainous terrain, the tiger Indochina is a solitary and nocturnal feline. Not much is known about this cat, because of the remoteness of their habitat and the unstable political climate in most parts of its range distribution that has prevented researchers to access their land to study until recently. It is believed to be very strong and able to take even baby elephants like animals of prey. In general, hunting antelope, wild boar and buffalo though have been known to supplement their diet with birds, fish, monkeys and reptiles. Sometimes the Corbett tiger has been documented to kill bears, leopards and even other tigers.

The shaded red area shows the current range has been drastically reduced during the last century and the tiger are now recorded in scattered parts in these countries, segregation in the human population and therefore suffer from inbreeding with its adverse consequences and long-term genetic.

The tigers are reported by call vocalizations during the mating season. Stay together during courtship after the male moves. Woman gives birth to a litter of two to three cubs after of a pregnancy lasting one hundred and three days on average. The cubs gain maturity of two years. Average lifespan of fifteen years.
