Kanha National Park a tiger reserve and national park in Balaghat and Mandla districts of Madhya Pradesh, India. This national park covers an area of about 940 square kilometers in the two districts including Balaghat and Mandla. It forms the Kanha Tiger Reserve Sanctuary with 110 square kilometers adjacent Phen and a plaza surrounding the buffer zone 1009 km. This national park has a large population of Barasingha and Royal Bengal tiger.
Fauna
Kanha National Park has a large population of tigers estimated to about 121 in June 2006. It also has a significant population of Indian wild dog, leopards and sloth bear. There are an estimated 396 dogs Indian wild, while the leopards are estimated at around 80 in total. The sloth bear is estimated 111 people in 2000.
Most prey species of a large predator is chital or spotted deer. This is estimated at 20,000 in Kanha National Park. The second largest population of deer is Cervus unicolor or sambar which is based important prey of the tiger. Several mammals are usually observed gray langur in 6668 estimated population, in about 8534 wild boar, sambar in more than 3621 and gaur estimated that more than in 2000.
Other top species are the Kanha National Park Indian gray mongoose, small Indian civet, badger Honey, Smooth-coated otter, the fox of Bengal, the rhesus monkey and golden jackal. The right time to see the animals is during night and early morning when they are usually wide awake. The safaris are available from 6:00 a.m.-12: 00 noon and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the afternoon.
